About

JOYCE HOLBROOK READER

Joyce Holbrook Reader was a long time resident of Bryan, Ohio and alumni of the BHS class of 1972. She was active in A Capella, Girls Ensemble and Musical Theater. Later Joyce performed with the Bryan Madrigal Chorale. Joyce was a local worship leader and she and her husband Steve served as pastors of New Life Worship Center, Bryan for 12 years. Joyce devoted her life and talents to ministry and music.

Joyce passed away on May 7, 2015 after fighting a renal disease for more than 30 years, surviving two kidney transplants and years of dialysis.

The Holbrook and Reader families wanted to honor Joyce’s passion for music and her love for the Bryan community. The Joyce Reader Memorial Foundation was established in 2017 and was given 501c3 non-profit status in November 2017.

MISSION

The purpose of the Joyce Reader Memorial Foundation is to support the arts by providing financial assistance to the Bryan City Schools orchestra, band and chorus programs.

SCHOLARSHIP

This past year we finalized our scholarship program thru the Bryan Area Foundation. This fund is complete at $25,000.00 and will award a scholarship annually to a Bryan High School graduating senior.

In addition to the scholarship fund, the foundation has contributed $3,000.00 to the Bryan High School music department to help Choir students and orchestra students go on school sponsored trips to New York City, New York and Orlando, Florida.

The foundation also sponsored the Day in the Park Talent Show for youth in 2018 and 2019.
